A typical monitor on a stand is located about half way between the floor and the ceiling. The floor/ceiling bounce returns back to the monitor out of phase. This imposes a phase cancel effect on the speaker’s output; for example, the first cut is around 74 Hz for 8’ ceilings, causing the engineer to boost 74 Hz in the mix unnecessarily.
With ASC, studio monitors are nested into a “Monitor Stack”, comprised of specially built TubeTraps. The Monitor Stack upsets the vertical symmetry in the room.

The lower Trap absorbs bass, whereas the upper Trap is short of the ceiling and vents bass. The combination eliminates the phase cancel effect and lets the engineer work in a linear environment. Whether part of an ASC AttackWall system or in a stand-alone configuration, ASC MonitorStands give you more than just simple support for the physical placement of your monitoring system; it also dramatically improves the monitor and room accuracy.
Built in a wide variety of sizes and customizations, MonitorStands can accommodate nearly any monitor speaker built today. Using near-field Focal CMS65? No problem, select our smallest Model-9. Using some large ATC SCM50ASL? No problem, use our highly popular Model-16. How about an extra-wide, extra powerful set of Westlake BSSM12? No problem, use a pair of Model-16 side-by-side.
We can build custom monitor “bridges” to allow top performance without altering the voice of your speaker. Call today for pricing, examples, and details.
