Voiced to the Situation
Bastoni is a custom product line, made to order, voiced to the situation.
Our original Bastoni was designed by a very talented Italian trained furniture designer who worked in coordiniation with ASC President, Arthur Noxon. We introduced the Bastoni at the HIFI 96 audiophile show in the John Jacob Astor Salon at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NYC.
We had the honor to work with a fantastic Von Schweikert speaker. We literally re-voiced the elegant meeting room. It was 49 x 75 x 18′ high and we turned it into a huge audiophile playback demo room.
Our largest Bastoni model, the Largo was customzed and fit with a top arch which mirrored the arched openings along the side of the. By doing this we let bass escape into the expanded volume of the side hallways while retaining and enhancing lateral ambience.
Because of the 18′ ceiling height, the room had a 31 Hz vertical mode, right in the middle of the subwoofer range. We designed and custom built huge SubTraps called Bastoni Lento and placed them on the floor between the speakers to damp down the vertical mode buildup.
To deliver these huge units and at the same time supply many rooms at the show with tubeTraps we filled a truck with product and drove it to New York City. We sold everything we took to the show and used the truck to make the deliveries. And the system was voted 3rd best in the show. http://www.soundstage.com/HiFi96.htm
We liked the big units but wanted to make something more practical and so developed a smaller, UPS shippable model, the Bastone Vivace. It is also free standing or wall mounted. It ship flat, 4 units per box and it is assembled during the install. Economical to build and ship, Vivace is intended for consumer applications in home and studio applications.
Later we came up with the Bastoni Ceilo, a 2×2 unit that drops into an acoustic tile ceiling grid. It was for a large live room of a new recoding studio who needed to dump bass buildup while at the same time develop instantaneous ambience, bright but controlled. It can also be easily mounted directly to walls or ceiling.
Our latest model is part of our Black Acoustic line, the Bastoni Oscurare (to obscure) which is mounted on walls and obscured by stretched fabric walls. It is even lower in cost and also ships UPS/FedX. It require assembly on site.
The Bastoni product line or custom variations of it are available factory direct. Call engineering to discuss your idea or sales for pricing.
Bastoni Vivace (lively)
The Bastoni Vivace is the smaller and less expensive version of the original Largo model. It was developed to fit into the UPS/FedX shipping bos dimensions. Fully assembled it is 24″ side, 6′ tall and 14″ deep. It’s curvature is also a true convex parabola, which is the perfect diffusing shape, spreading reflections uniformly in all directions. The diffusing strips are 6″ wide and bounded by sound absorbing fins.
It is free standing or can be mounted to the wall. It comes in a variety of colors with a perforated back sheet covered in black felt. It is shipped disassembled and easily assembles upon arrival. These units are packaged in boxes of 4.
Bastoni Cielo (sky)
Here we have a drop in replacement for an acoustic ceiling tile. It fits into a 2×2 T-bar grid. Because of the weight, the grid does need extra support wires. The photos shows the produce laying flat but it actually is installed upside down. It can also be installed directly onto walls.
It is 23.5 x 23.5 x 3″ deep and has a perforated back plate, covered in black felt. A view of the Cielo with its cover removed is shown above. It ships UPS/FedX, 8/box.
Bastoni Lento (slow)
Powerful bass traps that are set on the floor in the front of the room to control build-up of the vertical subwoofer mode or upright against the back wall to manage the buildup of the long mode in the room. This subwoofer range bass trap is 3′ x 3′ x 2′ tall. It operates well into the subsonic range.
The curved polished wood face has a parabola shape for uniform scattering of sound. Vertical treble range sound is scattered into the horizontal plane, enhancing the sense of later diffusion. The slot loaded sound fins are 4″ thick and fairly close together They are only intended to absorb the deep base and only incidentially provide some directional abfuser function.
