HVAC Noise

Many air conditioning systems contain large motors running large fans. The frequency of motor operation and fan blade rotation can often impart significant sound levels throughout the ductwork.

Additionally, ductwork size and geometry can stimulate resonances within the system, causing increased sound levels at resonant frequencies. Recording studios are commonly air-locked for sound isolation purposes, therefore necessitating the use of an HVAC system, and further, requiring that the HVAC system impart as little noise as possible.

Solutions include in-line mufflers, and sound-absorbing ductwork inserts.
